Video and Sound Blog 1

I went on the Soundwalk 9:09 with my group members. We specifically listened to the Soundwalk 9:09 Uptown, going from The Met Breuer to The Met Fifth Avenue. To be honest, I don’t think I really understand this type of ambient noise. I don’t think I have a deep enough understanding of music or sound to appreciate the sound walk to it’s fullest extent. I liked that John Luther Adams tried to contrast the real time background noises with the track itself, blurring the lines between the record and reality. I also liked how he modified the soundtrack to be somewhat musical. There were portions when a loud vehicle or a police siren passed and I would question whether it was the sound walk or real life. Overall, I could see what Adams was trying to convey, but I also thought it was just a bunch of ambient noise.
